Saudi- Community commends expat for exemplary service
(MENAFN- Arab News) A prominent Indian community leader who is renowned for his large-scale participation in cultural and service organizations is leaving the Kingdom after 34 years of service.
Arang one of the oldest cultural organizations set up by Indian expats from Kerala organized a farewell party for Usman Irumpuzhi former president of the Indian Media Forum in Jeddah in recognition of his outstanding contributions in the service of the Indian community.
'Usman has played an important role in the formation of several organizations including Arang the Saudi-Indian Football Forum and the Indian School Parents Forum' said Ismail Maritheri an English language professor at King Abdulaziz University who presided over the function.
Gopi Nedungadi a community leader spoke highly about Usman's contributions to enrich literary and cultural activities in Jeddah. Usman has written several books in the Malayalam language focusing on expat life and travels and has received a number of honors including the Asianet Channel award.
Abu Iringattiri a novelist asked Usman to spend his leisure time in Kerala to write more books especially stories making use of his accumulated experiences from Saudi Arabia. He commended Usman's outstanding qualities that have made him a friend for everybody.
A large number of community workers and friends spoke at the event expressing their love affection and respect for Usman and wished him a happy and prosperous life in Malappuram with his wife Sabira and children Ameera and Yaseen.
'Jeddah will miss him' said Salah Karadan a business executive and former chairman of IISJ managing committee.
Usman who was assistant marketing manager at Al-Fadul Freight Solutions has witnessed the Kingdom's fast development during the past three decades. 'I believe that Malayalee expats who have been working to feed their families and relatives back home have changed a lot. Many of them have brought their families to the Gulf to enjoy their lives' he pointed out.
Usman said he was proud of the amazing effort Malayalees make to live together and cooperate with one another for the benefit of themselves and the society. His dream is to live a peaceful life with friends and relatives back home based on his faith. He thanked everybody who made his expat life pleasant meaningful and memorable.
