We can solve our problems
(MENAFN- Arab News) This is with reference to the article 'When nations fail to learn from past' (Nov. 15) by Harun Yahya. I always read his articles with great interest. He is perhaps one of the few writers around the globe who refuses to jump on the war bandwagon. Unfortunately he represents a minority which is being effectively muzzled in various parts of the globe. Such ideas don't suit the interests of the military-industrial complex which creates wars to keep the wheel of its fortunes moving.
Western powers particularly the United States don't learn from their past experiences. West's military adventures have only created lingering issues that are not easy to deal with. People often cite the example of the Vietnam War. Many of them are not aware that the indiscriminate use of biological weapons continues to affect the present generations of Vietnamese people.
The powers that be seemingly fail to recognize the psychological toll of these wars.
The ongoing western-sponsored bombing in various parts of the world will continue to haunt generations to come. Children women and youths caught in the cross-fire will cease to live normal lives. In many cases they will become more vulnerable to demagogues who are continuously on the move to exploit religious sentiments for their selfish interests. I strongly believe that only Muslim countries can come up with a solution to all the problems facing the Ummah. We are in a better position to understand our internal situation. The West can also play a crucial role in helping us solve our problems by stop interfering in the affairs of the Muslim world particularly the Middle East. From the Sykes-Picot agreement to the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan the western powers have done enough for the Muslim world. It is time they leave us alone to solve our issues ourselves.
