BOJ Watching Impact of Falling Yen after Additional Easing

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Tokyo November 25 (QNA) - Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said Tuesday the central bank is closely watching the impact of the yen's sharp fall against other major currencies following its additional monetary easing last month.

Speaking to a meeting of business leaders in Nagoya Kuroda said the weakening Japanese currency could negatively affect the economy through rising import prices that burden smaller companies and households although there are some positive aspects such as improved earnings at firms operating internationally according to Japan's (Kyodo) News Agency.

Such impacts "differ depending on economic entities" he said. "We will carefully watch (the environment) including effects on the real economy." (QNA)
