S. Korea's Terms of Trade Rise for 2nd Month in October


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Seoul November 24 (QNA) - South Korea's terms of trade rose in October for the second straight month as import prices posted a steeper decline compared with export prices data showed Monday.

The country's net terms-of-trade index for goods reached 90.46 last month rising 1.3 percent from the previous year according to the preliminary data by the Bank of Korea.

The October gain marks a quicker growth compared with September when the index rose 0.6 percent snapping a four-month fall according to South Korea's (Yonhap) New Agency.

The index is calculated by dividing the index for export prices by that for import prices. The base year is 2010 with a benchmark of 100.

From a month earlier the index gained 0.2 percent rising for a third straight month. It slowed from a 0.7 percent gain in September.

The data also showed that the country's income terms-of-trade index for October reached 128.15 increasing 4.6 percent from a year earlier.

The index measures how much can be imported with the total export value. (QNA)
