Oman Inflation Rate Rises 1.022 in October


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Muscat November 22 (QNA) - The annual rate of inflation in Oman stood at 1.02% in October 2014 when compared with the same period in 2013. Additionally on a month-by-month basis the October rate increased by 0.12% when compared with the September 2014 figure.



According to a inflation report issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) details the underlying factors behind the annual rate increase in October 2014 when compared to October 2013. Food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 1.04% while housing water electricity gas and other fuels grew by 0.24%. Education costs recorded an increase of 4.51%. Meanwhile health costs increased by 5.0% and communications costs rose by 5.02%.



In addition furnishings household equipment & routine household maintenance grew by 6.03% and hotel and restaurant costs increased by 0.6% while tobacco prices increased by 1.10%. Miscellaneous goods and services also recorded a marginal increase of 0.11% recreation and culture prices increased by 0.02% and transports costs rose by 0.51%. On the other hand clothing and footwear costs declined by 1.01%.



When measured against the September 2014 figures the report shows that the inflation rate in October increased by 0.12%. The growth is attributed to the increase in housing water electricity gas and other fuels by 0.02%. In addition clothing and footwear costs increased by 0.75% and furnishings household equipment & routine household maintenance also increased by 0.29%. Transports costs rose by 0.61% health costs increased by 0.07% education costs increased by 4.5% hotels and restaurants costs grew by 0.16% miscellaneous goods and services increased by 0.05% and tobacco prices increased by 0.86%.
