S. Korea Morocco PMs Discuss Economic Cooperation


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Rabat November 25 (QNA) - South Korea's Prime Minister Chung Hong-won has met with his Moroccan counterpart Abdelilah Benkirane and discussed ways to expand the presence of South Korean businesses in the North African country.



Chung met with Benkirane in Rabat on Monday and asked for Morocco's interest and cooperation so that South Korean companies will be able to actively advance into fields in Morocco related to new renewable energy water resources environment and Information Communication Technology according to Korea's (KBS WORLD) website.



He also asked for stronger bilateral cooperation in more traditional areas including trade investment and construction of plants and other projects.



Benkirane on his part said South Korean companies are greatly contributing to Morocco's development as he noted that South Korean firms are currently building two power plants in his country. He then proposed that Morocco and South Korea jointly make inwards into Africa based on South Korea's experience and technology and Morocco's geographic advantage of linking three continents.

Chung is the highest-ranking South Korean government official to visit Morocco since diplomatic relations were established in 1962.



Chung is visiting Morocco after having traveled to Egypt. He will head to Azerbaijan after wrapping up his stay in Morocco. (QNA)
