Kuwait Condemns Israel's Flagrant Desecration of AlAqsa Mosque
(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) New York November 25 (QNA) - The State of Kuwait has condemned blatant violation of Al-Aqsa mosque's sanctity by Israeli troops and Jewish settlers and preventing Palestinians from entering the holy site.
The official Kuwaiti stance was expressed by Ambassador Mansour Ayyad Al-Otaibi the State Permanent Delegate at the United Nations while addressing a UN General Assembly's session devoted for discussing the Palestinian cause according to Kuwait (KUNA) News Agency.
The Kuwaiti envoy affirmed necessity of discussing this significant topic in shadow of continuing Israel's flagrant desecration of the mosque sacred status and Israelis' ongoing illegal provocative actions in the occupied Palestinian territories including East Jerusalem. Such actions signal Tel Aviv's schemes to solidify occupation and continue to repress the Palestinian people Ambassador Al-Otaibi stated.
He called on the international community namely the UN Security Council to shoulder necessary responsibilities in this respect seek to halt daily Israeli offensives on the holy mosque also noting that the recurring breaches have coincided with entry of radical Jewish activists into the compound under protection of the Israeli police.
Kuwait in this respect affirms legitimacy of the Palestinian people's inalienable rights namely the right to establish an independent state with the June 4 1967 border line and East Jerusalem as its capital Ambassador Al-Otaibi stressed.
Al-Otaibi urged for releasing immediately all Palestinian prisoners and detainees particularly the sick and children held by Israel including those who had been detained before signing the peace Oslo accords in early 90s. Pressure should be exerted on Israel to treat the inmates as prisoners of war according to the Geneva conventions relevant international laws and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a preliminary step toward their freedom he emphasized.
In line with the State of Kuwait's previous warnings against repercussions of the current conditions in the occupied territories on peace prospects Ambassador Al-Otaibi renewed the call upon the world to pressure Israel stop hostile acts all settlement activities recurring breaches of Al-Aqsa mosque abstain from acts intended to alter demographic and geographic status of Jerusalem lift without conditions the illegal siege on Gaza and abide by UN resolutions that ensure Israel's pullout from all occupied territories.
