UAE- UAQ gets new internal connecting road to Etihad road

Umm Al Quwain - The Planning and Survey Department in Umm Al Quwain on Thursday opened the internal road that connects the Nifa road with the main Etihad road in the emirate.



According to a senior official the development of the 200m long road is part of the UAQ government plans to improve and heighten the performance of infrastructure. Eng Ayman Mahmoud Deputy Head of the Roads Section at the Department of Planning and Survey UAQ said the new road will help ease congestion and enhance traffic flow. “It will also interconnect the internal areas of the emirate with an integrated network of advanced roads.”



The Department is also developing a number of major and internal roads in the emirate he added. “On top of these is a 2.4km long main road in the emirate of Umm Al Quwain extending from the Amiri Guard in the direction of the Etihad road.”



Mahmoud said the UAQ Planning and Survey Department has built and developed lots of internal and major roads in the emirate in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works. “The roundabout extending over 12000 square feet opposite the Ruler’s Court along the Shaikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Mualla road is one of these.”



Few days ago the Umm Al Quwain Police reopened the UAQ-Ajman road after five days of closure due to the ongoing construction works of the new UAQ Bridge.



Mahmoud also unveiled that the Ministry of Public Works has recently refurbished the Shaikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Mualla road which extends from the Ruler’s castle to the King Faisal road UAQ. “Some 2.5km long of the 6.8km long road has been built and asphalted whereas the development works in the road consists of several sections spanning the revamp of the whole road.”



The Department of Planning and Survey in cooperation with the Traffic and Patrols Department UAQ Police is adopting an effective plan involving the establishment of road diversions and alternative routes to ease traffic flow he stated.
