Jordan has a "pivotal" role in Mideast: British House of Commons

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)  The Minister of Foreign and Expatiates Affairs, Nasser Judeh, met on Sunday with a delegation representing the British House of Commons, comprising members of the Council for Arab-British Understanding (CAABU), and the All Party-Parliamentary Jordan group, led by MP Crispin Blunt.

The discussion focused on Jordanian-British ties and ways of enhancing cooperation in various fields.

Judeh emphasized, during the meeting, the importance of finding a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, based on the two-state solution and establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state on national Palestinian soil along the pre-1967 border with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He reiterated Jordan's condemnation of the Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank, which, he said are in contradiction of the international law.

Judeh and Blunt reviewed the efforts being exerted to fight terrorism and extremism, with the minister saying that "we should be the first to stand against these violations, which contravened the teachings of Islam." The delegation stressed Britain's support for the "pivotal" role of the Kingdom in achieving security and stability in the region.
