(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) His Majesty King Abdullah II returned home following a brief working visit to Egypt where he discussed with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi ways to forge closer ties between the two countries as well as the current developments in the Middle East.
The two leaders stressed their support to the international coalition to fight terrorist organizations as well as extremist ideologies that target the region and its peoples.
They also reviewed efforts to achieve peace in the region and revive peace talks between the Palestinians and Israelis in line with the two-state solution, international legitimacy resolutions as well as the Arab Peace Initiative.
The King briefed the Egyptian president about Jordan's efforts to defend the holy city of Jerusalem and confront Israeli practices that target the city, mainly the Al Aqasa Mosque.
On Syria and Iraq, both leaders affirmed the need to reach a political solution to the crisis in Syria and support Iraq to preserve its unity and enable it to address various challenges.
His Majesty and El-Sisi also highlighted the strong ties between Jordan and Egypt as well as their keenness to build on what has been achieved to serve the interests of both peoples.
King Abdullah voiced Jordan's keenness to maintain coordination and consultations with Egypt on issues of common interest to support Arab issues and joint Arab action.
The Egyptian leader voiced his country's appreciation to Jordan's supportive stance to Egypt as well as the Kingdom's role to serve Arab issues.
