Oman tourism sector to grow 10 percent in 2014

(MENAFN) Oman's tourism sector is expected to register a significant growth this year, as its direct economic contribution to the country's economy is expected to increase by 10.2 percent in 2014, Arabian Business reported.

This increase is attributed to the growth in the numbers of international tourist arriving in Oman, which grew by 12 percent during the January-June period of this year, compared with the 1.6 million who arrived in 2013 and resulted in generating USD1.2 billion in exports.

Oman's Ministry of Tourism said that it has been focusing on the tourism sector, as it has a very important contribution to job creation, heritage conservation and community development in the sultanate, as well as its ability to promote cross-cultural dialogue and understanding among both peoples and nations.
