Afghan President to hold talks with NATO chief in Brussels


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will meet with the President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and the Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah on Monday at the NATO headquarters in Brussels on Monday, NATO announced here Saturday. The meeting takes place on the eve of NATO foreign ministers' meeting in Brussels on Tuesday and Wednesday which is expected to focus on Afghanistan.

This will be the first visit of the two Afghan leaders to NATO after they assumed their posts in September and comes only four week before NATO ends its ISAF mission in Afghanistan on 31 December.

Stoltenberg paid a visit to Kabul in early November for talks with Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah.

The Alliance is to launch a new advise, assist and training mission in Afghanistan on January 1, 2015.

Meanwhile, Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah will also meet the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, in Brussels next Tuesday, according to an EP press release.
