Three French fighter jets in Jordan to fighting ISIL

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Three French military fighter jets have arrived in Jordan last night with the aim of confronting threats in the region, spokesman of the Jordanian Armed Forces said Saturday.

Colonel Mamdouh Al-Ameri said in a brief statement, cited by the official PETRA news agency, that the arrival of the three fighter jets was part of continued cooperation between Jordan and its international partners to address threats facing the Middle East.

French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said last Wednesday that Paris would deploy six Mirage fighter jets in Jordan to intensify the airstrike against the Islamic State in Iraq and Levant (ISIL).

The US has already deployed F-16 fighter jets, 1,000 forces and patriot rockets in Jordan as part of the international coalition against ISIL.
