OIC condemns "vicious aggression" against Nigerian mosque

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Saturday condemned the "vicious aggression" against hundreds of Muslim worshippers during yesterday's Friday prayers in Kano Mosque in northern Nigeria, which killed dozens of people and injured many others.

OIC Secretary General Iyad Madani extended support for the government of Nigeria in its efforts to fighting terrorism.

He called on the Nigerian government to double its efforts to "put an end to the ongoing killing operations against innocent citizens and destruction of properties." Madani expressed condolences for the families of the victims and the Nigerian government, and reiterated firm rejection to all forms of terrorism, extremism and violence.

Two suicide attackers blew themselves up during the Friday prayers while gunmen opened fire at the worshippers who were escaping, killing 120 people and wounding 270 others.
