(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatargas has become the first Qatari organisation to win the two most prestigious awards in the area of liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipping operations from the British Safety Council, said the company yesterday in a press release. It won the "Sword of Honour" for occupational health and safety management and the "Globe of Honour" for environmental management.
Qatargas was one of only four organisations worldwide who were successful in winning both the awards in 2014. It was one of 50 organisations worldwide that achieved a Sword of Honour, which is awarded to organisations who have demonstrated excellence in the management of health and safety. It was also one of five organisations worldwide presented with a Globe of Honour, which is awarded to organisations who have demonstrated excellence in environmental management.
Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani, Qatargas Chief Executive Officer, received the award from Alex Botha, British Safety Council Chief Executive, at a ceremony held at Drapers' Hall in London.
