Farmers Asked To Help Keep Fertiliser Out of Terrorist Hands

Peterborough UK.
A known component of home-made bombs and explosives fertiliser is stored in bulk by farmers throughout the country.  As Home Secretary Theresa May speaks at the counter-terrorism awareness week conference at the Royal United Services Institute in Westminster farmers are being asked to be vigilant and ensure fertiliser is stored securely.  Plastic water tank specialist Enduramaxx offers a number of solutions to enable farmers to store fertiliser along with all other liquids safely and securely.

The Home Secretary announced a new package of anti-terrorism measures in the new Counter-Terrorism and Security Bill introduced by parliament this week with aims to tighten up protection throughout the UK.  With tensions throughout Syria and Iraq the threat of terrorism facing the country is the highest it has been for some years.

With fertiliser being widely used in the formulation of explosives used in terrorism counter-terrorism officials have warned farmers to pay close attention to where and how securely their stocks of fertiliser are stored.    The warnings come as police appeal to rural communities to play their role in ensuring the risks of extremist attacks on UK soil are reduced.

In addition to police warnings The National Farmers Union has its own ten-point guide covering the ‘dos and don’ts’ of storing fertiliser.  Amongst these guidelines are points including; don’t store fertiliser where the public have access; don’t leave fertiliser in fields overnight; and don’t store fertiliser close to public highways.

Peterborough-based plastic water tank specialist Enduramaxx is only too aware that farmers need to be storing liquid fertiliser and indeed all liquids safely and securely.  The company’s range of vertical storage tanks horizontal tanks potable water tanks and cone bottom tanks are all made from an extremely robust ribbed single piece of uv-stabilised polyethylene.  Liquids including fertilizer are kept safe from spillage leakage and theft especially when the tanks are installed in secure units.
