THRIVE Portable Solar LED Lights Sold Online For The First Time

(MENAFNEditorial) In time for the 2014 holiday season Cosas AutoSuficientes LLC (CAS) launches the online sale of THRIVE Portable Solar LED Lights. The solar lights were normally sold abroad to those who live in rural and remote areas of the developing world with little to no access to an electrical grid. It is now on sale to American consumers for the first time. The Solar LED Light is catching attention for its high quality and low price along with the manufacturer's socially driven business model.

For Americans the THRIVE Portable Solar LED Light is good to keep as emergency flashlights in survival kits as they do not have to rely on external batteries that may end up dying during long periods of storage. Lightweight at 3 oz small and portable (15 cm x 7.5 cm x 3 cm) - it emits up to 8 hours of bright white light after a full day of charging under the sun.

Campers would find good use for the solar lights as handy flashlights. However for the 1.4 billion who have to deal with regular blackouts or life outside of an electrical grid the solar lights are more than "handy". The solar lights provide a cheaper and more reliable source of lighting to enable life after sunset like studying extra hours and continuing entreprenuerial activities. The solar lights are also useful for rural clinics who need lighting in emergencies like childbirths.

The THRIVE Solar LED Light is touted as the most inexpensive high quality solar light in the market today. In place of a lightbulb it utilizes an LED light chip invented by Shuji Nakamura the recipient for the 2014 Nobel Prize for Physics for the invention of efficient blue light-emitting diodes. Nakamura's invention brings the cost down significantly for those who need the Solar LED Light for everyday use particularly those in the developing world who earn only $2.50 per day.

The Solar LED Light is retailed by Cosas AutoSuficientes for US$10. As part of its launch CAS is running a promotion giving away the THRIVE Portable Solar LED Light with the purchase of its other solar lanterns and solar chargers.

In addition to keeping costs down to make the solar products affordable for the base of the pyramid the manufacturing of the Solar LED Light THRIVE Solar Energy adopts a community empowerment business model. For one it supports women empowerment by employing 260 women out of its 320 factory workers in India. For another it has factories in the markets it sells in like India Kenya and Ghana – thus contributing jobs for the local economy. THRIVE supplies as much of its materials from local economies and has one of the few if not only solar devices in the market that does not have to label "Made in China."

Another unique feature of the THRIVE Solar LED Lights is that they are hand made – making a proven example that high quality renewable energy devices can be produced in developing countries.

A portion of each product sold by Cosas AutoSuficientes will go to two charities: the Renewable Energy Enterprises Foundation and the One Child One Light campaign. Both organizations promote the use of clean-technology as a way to alleviate the poverty that 1.4 billion people in the world face because they live off the grid. Without solar powered devices these people may spend upwards of 20% of their meager incomes on dirty and hazardous kerosene fuels just for light after dark. This in turn deprives them of a chance to save their money and work their way out of poverty.
