BBC plans to cut USD630m from budget

(MENAFN) The BBC announced it needs to cut an extra USD630 million a year from its budget by 2017, which is likely to affect both its programs and services, Khaleej Times reported.

These savings will be added to the previous cuts which accumulated to USD1.73 billion a year, which resulted in a broadcaster deciding to take youth TV channel BBC Three off air and move it online.

"We don't want to close BBC Four. What we're doing is making efficiency savings, and what we've published today is a document that shows that over the last few years we've saved about 1.1 billion pounds of our costs," BBC's director of strategy said.
