(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) The United States (US) Embassy in Jordan will be closed Thursday for Thanksgiving and will resume operations on Sunday. Thanksgiving is celebrated each year on the last Thursday of November in the US, according to a press release by the embassy.
President George Washington declared the day a holiday in 1789. In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln gave his Thanksgiving Proclamation, declaring the last Thursday in November as a day of thanksgiving.
