FM, US senator discuss ties, regional developments


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)  Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh discussed on Wednesday with member of the US Senate, Elizabeth Warren, the Jordanian-US ties as well as coordination between the two countries on various issues.

Judeh reiterated Jordan's strong condemnation and full rejection of all Israeli practices that contravene international laws, noting that the Kingdom will take measures that would ensure an end to these irresponsible Israeli acts.

He said failure to find a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue means continuation of terrorism and extremism, stressing the importance of implementing the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The minister also reviewed efforts exerted at all levels to fight terrorism and extremism which threaten the region, highlighting the need for international cooperation to fight such phenomena.

The two officials also discussed the situation in Syria and stressed the need to arrive at a political solution that guarantees the security and territorial integrity of Syria with the participation of all segments of the Syrian society.

Judeh urged the international community to support the Kingdom to enable it to address the burden of hosting a large number of Syrian refugees.

The US official voiced her country's appreciation of Jordan's pivotal role to achieve peace and stability in the region and protect Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
