S. Korea logs current account surplus for 32 months


(MENAFN) Central bank data showed that South Korea has posed a current account surplus for the 32nd consecutive month, marking the longest surplus trend in the country's history, Xinhua reported.

According to data released by the Bank of Korea (BOK), the current account surplus, the broadest measure of cross-border trade, reached USD9.01 billion in October.

The figures were lower than the record high of USD11.11 billion surplus registered in October last year, but it was up from a surplus of USD7.41 billion in the previous month.

In the January-October period, the current account surplus totaled USD70.66 billion, up USD2.34 billion on-year. The BOK has expected this year's current account surplus to reach a new high of USD84 billion.
