Col Al Mazrouie said at a Press conference that participation in these celebrations will be confined to people holding special passes while people can watch the activities on giant display screens and monitors that will be fixed at public squares near to the main venues of the celebrations.

Eighty patrol cars will organise the entry and exit from and to the celebration sites. Vehicular traffic will be diverted to alternative roads.

Strict action against offenders

“The law will be strictly enforced on all offenders which may include impoundment of a violator’s car for up to a month.”

Practices like holding processions performing road stunts rash driving overtaking from hard shoulder changing cars’ body colour placing stickers that offend public decency on cars overloading cars and dangling out of cars’ windows and doors are all prohibited during the celebrations.

“Article No (1) of the traffic law will be applied on motorists who may drive in a way that poses a danger to the public. The penalty will be seizure of the vehicle for a month and Dh2000 in fine plus 12 black points” he explained.

The traffic law will not only be applicable for cars but for motorcycles as well. Motorcycles of riders caught without driving licences would be impounded right away he noted.
