Qatar- AAB, Toyota create world record of largest SUV convoy

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) To mark its 50th year of association with Toyota Motor Corporation, Abdallah Abdulghani & Bros Co (AAB) invited hundreds of residents who own off-road vehicles to break a world record for the largest SUV convoy.

The "1 Nation 1 Record" campaign aimed to form the world's largest off-road convoy by organising SUVs into a line that travelled a distance of 34km.

UAE holds the previous Guinness World Record in this category, after 153 cars successfully drove 30km during an off-road convoy event last year.

The convoy for the Guinness Record attempt began with 411 vehicles traversing through the dunes of Mesaieed to cover a distance of 34kms. AAB and Toyota rewrote the existing record with 154 off-road vehicles successfully completing the event, after meeting the strict regulations of Guinness World Record Representative.

Takayuki Yoshitsugu, Chief Representative of Middle East & North Africa Representative office (Menaro) of Toyota Motor Corporation, and Ismail Yagan, PR Manager, also from Menaor were also present along with hundreds of Toyota SUV owners.

Because the event celebrates Toyota's legacy here in Qatar, only Toyota SUV models where allowed to enter the competition.

A "family zone" was set up on site, with bouncy castles, face painting, food stands, games and competitions for those who want to enjoy a day out. R K Murugan, Director of Sales and Marketing, AAB, concluded the event with a thanking note.
