(MENAFN) Singapore's Economic Development Board said that the country's manufacturing output, which accounts for about a fifth of the country's economy, registered an increase by 0.2 percent during October compared with the same month last year, Xinhua reported.
Singapore attributed the growth in the manufacturing to the biomedical manufacturing, which recorded an increase in its output by 22.5 percent in October compared with same month in 2013.
The board said that by excluding biomedical manufacturing, the overall manufacturing output registered a decline by 4.3 percent, as well as the electronic manufacturing, which dropped by 6.1 percent and the general manufacturing industries, which output declined by 3.3 percent.
Meanwhile, the chemicals output registered a growth by 2.3 percent, led by the petrochemicals segment, while engineering output increased by 1.3 percent during October.
