Kuwait- Ebola Scare As Ethiopian Expat 'Infects' 4 Men, 5 Policemen


(MENAFN- Arab Times) An Ethiopian expatriate who was detained in Sa'ad Al- Abdullah Police Station has been referred to the Jahra Hospital because he is suffering from an infectious disease that can spread through air, reports Al-Shahed daily. Four inmates in the same cell and five policemen of the police station have also been referred to Jahra Hospital for medical examinations to ensure they are not infected with the same disease. Meanwhile, Al-Watan Arabic newspaper reported that the four individuals who were detained in the same cell have been released and that one has been referred to the deportation center while the other three were handed over to their sponsors. However, it is uncertain if these individual were infected or not. It is also not known so far whether the Ethiopian expatriate is suffering from Ebola.

Drugs seized: Abdali customs officers foiled an attempt to smuggle three kilograms of methamphetamine in the country which were hidden inside gas cylinders, reports Al-Shahed daily. The officials stopped an Egyptian expatriate who arrived at the border checkpoint from Iraq in his truck which was loaded with cooking gas cylinders. They checked his details and discovered that he holds valid residency in Kuwait. When officers opened one of the cylinders, they found methamphetamine. They arrested the driver and referred him to the Directorate General for Drug Control for investigations.

Arms hidden: Customs officers at Al-Khafji security checkpoint foiled attempts to smuggle weapons hidden in two vehicles that reached Saudi Arabia through Kuwait's Al-Nuwaiseeb border, reports Al-Shahed daily. The officers confiscated 19,266 shotgun bullets, seven two-barrel hunting guns and two air guns. Investigations regarding this issue are ongoing to find the culprits.

Woman robbed: A Kuwaiti lady filed a theft case in Adan police station against unknown person (s) who stole her handbag containing official confidential documents and photos taken at her sister's birthday party, says Al-Seyassah. The lady said the handbag was inside the car when she parked in front of her house in Qusour area. Criminal Evidences Men have since taken fingerprints from the scene and registered a case for investigation to trail the suspect (s).
