Qatar's Woqod, China sign USD6m deal for tanker

(MENAFN) Qatar Fuel (Woqod) announced it has purchased a bitumen tanker (vessel) with modern specifications from China in USD6 million deal, The Peninsula Qatar reported.

The vessel, which has been built in China in 2012 with a gross tonnage weight of 2, 512 tons, is expected to join Woqod ships fleet by the end of this year 2014.

Woqod said that the purchase of the new vessel will help it in increasing the capacity of its current Marine fleet, and upgrade the company's capacity, thus helping it with supplying the required quantities of Bitumen to the local market as well as Ashghal's requirements

Woqod, the country's largest fuel retailer, is currently supplying the Qatari local market with Bitumen after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Public Works Authority (Ashgal), which resulted in the company committing to supply the country with 130,000 tons of bitumen and polymer modified bitumen for utilization in Ashgal current and future infrastructure projects.
