Kuwaiti embassy to US urges citizens to avoid Ferguson protests

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait embassy to US has urged citizens to avoid areas where protesters gathered in St. Louis Suburb of Ferguson, Missouri, to express anger over a Grand Jury's decision, triggering violence on Monday night.

The Grand Jury decided not to press charges against Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown, a black, unarmed teenager.

While most protests across the country have been peaceful, there was rioting and incidences of looting in Ferguson, where the National Guard has been stationed for a month in anticipation of the verdict.

In a statement, the Kuwaiti embassy advised its citizens to avoid areas where "demonstrations and protests and acts of violence" continue to take place, and stressed "the need to follow the instructions of local authorities in this regard." The embassy further appealed to its citizens to communicate their concerns and report any emergencies via the following number: +1 202 262 0758, and expressed its wishes for their safety and security.
