Ensour discusses closer ties with Russian delegation


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)  Prime Minister Abdulah Enosur discussed with Vice-President of the Russian Federation Council, Ilias Oumakhanov, ways to forge closer bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Enosur, who met the Russian official on behalf of His Majesty King Abdullah II, said Jordan is keen to further promote relations with Russia in the interest of both countries and peoples.

The premier also reviewed political and economic reforms under the king's leadership, adding that the king called for achieving reforms and amending the constitution even before the so-called Arab Spring.

"Jordan has been able to preserve security and stability thanks to its moderate political system and the reform vision adopt by its Hashemite leadership," the premier added.

The prime minister said that the Palestinian issue is the core issue in the region, and unless a solution is worked out for the conflict, there will be no stability in the Middle East.

On the fight against terrorism, Ensour said that Jordan has the right to protect its borders and people from terrorism. He also reiterated the need to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
