Law has the final word against those who harms us: PM

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)   Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour said that Jordan has always been recognised as a country of freedom, openness, and governed by law, thanks to the open and wise Hashemite leadership.

Ensour made this remarks in a response to a question during a workshop organized by the Ministry of Public Sector Development on Tuesday to discuss the contents of the royal discussion papers on the promotion of freedom of expression.

He said Jordan's ruling system was never an executioner for its people. However, as the fourth year of the Arab Spring approaches, not a single drop of blood has been shed in Jordan and nor has any citizen been imprisoned for his opinion.

The prime minister pointed out that if anyone was detained recently it was because of allegations of possibly causing harm to Jordanians and the security of the community.

"However, whoever wants to express his opinion in the Jordanian sphere, harm our relationship with a sister state and deprives us of the support from all the countries that do, the law has the final word," Ensour affirmed.

"Whoever wants to post something online must first look into the law to ensure he does not offend our economy, trade and aid that we receive," he added while calling on all sensible people to respect the interests of the Jordanian people.

"Jordan's relations with the United Arab Emirates are brotherly and distinctive. We constantly receive aid from them and we have 225,000 Jordanians work there who, support about a million Jordanian families," the prime minister stressed.

"If anyone wants to write something and destroy the homes of these people, it will not be accepted by the Jordanian people," he added.

"In the light of regional economic conditions and the challenges posed by it, Jordan needs the support of our brothers and friends more than ever," he said.

"For example, who is more preoccupied with the Palestinian cause than Jordan?" Ensour wondered, while urging people not to distract Jordan with any other issues that would harm its relations with its brother and friends, so it could remain focused on supporting and advocating for the Palestinian cause.

The prime minister stressed that the Jordanian party must adhere to Jordanian law, and one which does not comply with the law is neither a Jordanian party nor a Jordanian association.

The person who speaks out because of his title in the party or association affects many benevolent members of the party or association. Though they do not support his arguments, they know how unjust his statements are to Jordan and its people, who do not deserve the injustice to its sons.
