Singapore's economy grows 2.8 percent in Q3


(MENAFN) According to Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry, the country's economy grew by 2.8 percent in the July-September period over a year ago, Xinhua reported.

Compared to the previous quarter, the growth was up from 2.3 percent and higher than the expectation of 2.4 percent of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, but it matched market forecasts.

The growth in the third-quarter period was supported by the finance and insurance which surged to 10.5 percent on-year, from 5.5 percent registered in the previous quarter.

The latest statistics released by International Enterprise Singapore showed that its non-oil domestic exports (NODX) in the third quarter rose 1.1 percent, following a decline of 3.4 percent in the previous quarter.
