(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh on Monday congratulated the Bahraini leadership on the successful parliamentary and municipal elections.
Judeh, who met with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, also conveyed His Majesty King Abdullah II's regards to the Bahraini monarch and his wishes of further progress and prosperity for the Bahraini people.
King Hamad and the foreign minister reviewed the latest regional developments. During the meeting, Judeh reiterated Jordan's firm position towards the Palestinian cause which, he said, remains the core of the conflict in the Middle East. Judeh also stressed the importance of reaching the two-state solution, which guarantees the establishment of an independent and viable Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Judeh also spoke about Jordan's stance which rejects terrorism in all its forms, stressing the importance of fighting it to help bolster the powers of moderation against extremism.
Further, the foreign minister met with Bahraini Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa; Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa; and Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
During these meetings, Judeh reviewed ties between Jordan and Bahrain as well as the means to boost them in all domains. The talks focused on the latest developments in the Middle East and the need to resume direct talks between the Palestinians and the Israelis to end the conflict and establish the independent Palestinian state. The talks also touched on the Syrian crisis and its humanitarian repercussions on Jordan.
