Kuwait- Syrian Acquitted In Theft Of Cell Phone


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Misdemeanor Court has decided to refrain from announcing penalty against a Syrian expatriate who was accused of stealing a mobile phone. The court instead obligated him to sign a pledge of good conduct for one year.

According to the court file, the Public Prosecutor had accused the suspect of stealing the cell phone and asked the court to impose the legal penalty against him as per Article 317/319 of the Penal Code.

The in-charge officer explained that he contacted the concerned telecommunication company regarding this case and discovered that the mobile line of the suspect was activated on the victim's phone. During the court session, attorney Mohammad Al-Majidi urged the court to acquit his client, stressing on the lack of evidences against his client. He pointed out the lack of witnesses to testify against his client, adding that the investigations conducted in this regard were not sufficient to prove the accusation against his client.
