UAE- Execute labour court orders or face suspension of work permits

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Ministry of Labour is about to finalise naming companies that refrained from implementing final labour court orders.

Companies that desist from executing final labour court orders may get all work permits they apply for suspended immediately by the Ministry of Labour (MoL) according to a decree issued recently by Minister of Labour Saqr Ghobash Saeed Ghobash.

As per the minister’s decision errant employers and their partners at companies will be granted a maximum of 30 days of grace period prior to taking the suspension decision of work permits to their other companies.

The ministry will warn the errant companies and their partners to either implement the court order in the grace period or risk the suspension of work permits of their other companies as well.

The ministry is about to finalise naming companies that refrained from implementing final labour court orders said Hameed bin Demas Al Suwaidi Assistant Undersecretary at MoL.

Al Suwaidi said the Minister’s decree comes in pursuance of the country’s policies designed to reinforce the state of law and establishments and observe rulings handed down by courts of law.

“This stems from a principle which states ‘nothing is above the law’” he said. Al Suwaidi added that the procedures to be taken by the ministry to fulfill the minister’s order depends on the data sent by the execution departments at labour courts.

The ministry will suspend all types of work permits to firms that abstain from observing the final ruling issued by labour courts.
