Sea beach safety drive begins in Abu Dhabi

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Critical Infrastructure and Coastal Protection Authoritys (CICPA) Bihar 2014 campaign kicked off its activities at Abu Dhabi Corniche on Thursday.

A Bihar spokesperson of the campaign said: “The stands that were present at Abu Dhabi Corniche will tour the rest of the beaches of the UAE. This constitutes an integral campaign element — as seen from last year’s success. The beach events generate relevant engagement with the students.”

The Bihar beach event is an ideal platform to disseminate key messages about the campaign — such as all critical aspects of marine environment. The CICPA representatives will talk to students about the relevance of sea safety rules and regulations the primary emergency number 996 and how to protect the vulnerable coastal environment.

As part of the beach activation a half-an-hour-long beach clean-up activity is planned for children to ensure that the students get educated on key areas of sea safety that will come in handy each time they visit the beach or manoeuvre through the sea. It was a great opportunity for the children to get all their queries answered in one go and go home more informed about sea safety and sea rules.

The campaign initiated by the CICPA underlines the authority’s role as a chief guardian of the waters in the UAE and reaffirms its commitment in ensuring its safety and security which includes educating the beach- and sea-goers about the practical and necessary aspects which they must know before going to the sea.
