Tunisia elects new president in landmark poll

(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency)  Tunisians voted on Sunday in the country's first presidential election since the overthrow of former President ZineEl Abidine Ben Ali in 2011.
Official results are expected by Tuesday, but shortly after the polls closed on Sunday, aides of former prime minister Beji Caid Essibsi, whose secularist Nidaa Tounes party was the top vote-getter in October's parliamentary election, claimed he was ahead of the incumbent president Moncef Marzouki, dpa reported.
