NCSI to showcase latest smartphone apps at Oman Geospatial Forum


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) will be participating in the two-day Oman Geospatial Forum 2014 beginning on Monday.

NCSI will be showcasing its latest statistical and geographical smartphone apps as well as its publications at the forum. 

In addition representatives from the centre will be presenting a number of papers at the event.

Dr Khalifa bin Abdullah al Barwani chief executive officer NCSI said 'The Oman Geospatial Forum 2014 is an important event which aims to bring focus on the increasing importance of geospatial applications in Oman.

'The forum will witness participation from government organisations and private sector companies and will attract a large number of visitors interested in the field.'

Dr Barwani said 'Participating in such events gives us the opportunity to positively engage and inform the local community.

'Visitors get a chance to understand the important role played by NCSI in delivering geographical information and social and economic statistics that are of concern to the government and private sectors.'

The centre makes a strong presence in social media to inform all sectors on the latest social and economic indicators using the latest technology and smart applications Dr Barwani added.
