Qataris commend achievements of "Journey of Hope"


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) A number of Qatari people, who are interested in people with special needs, lauded the achievements made by the "Journey of Hope" boat through its nine-month-long voyage.

In separate statements to KUNA after the boat had arrived in Doha on Saturday, some Qataris said that the boat of "Journey of Hope" underlined the importance of integrating those people with special needs into the society and supporting bodies care for them.

Taleb Afifi, a Qatari Society of Rehabilitation of Special Needs (QSRSN) member, said that the journey aims to convey a message to the world that the disabled can travel and show their capabilities in all fields.

He said that the journey would have a great impact in the future, lauding the efforts by Qatar's Coast Guard which offered all facilities to the boat's team.

He added that the QSRSN is keen on receiving the boat, indicating that a program is organized for the journey's members, including giving lectures and visiting societal institutions here to strengthen relations and common efforts.

For her part, Eliazy Al-Kuwari, a second QSRSN member, said that the journey conveys a humanitarian and social message, urging officials to pay more attention to the people with special needs.

Earlier in the day, the boat was received by Kuwaiti Ambassador to Qatar Meteb Saleh Al-Mutotah and members of the embassy.

The boat visited more than 25 ports in a nine-month-long voyage and expected to arrive in Kuwait in the beginning of December.
