Gulf Cup semifinals start Sun.


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The semifinals of the 22nd Gulf Cup are to set off at King Fahad International Stadium in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Sunday.

The last four will witness matches between Oman and Qatar, while defending Gulf Cup champions United Arab Emirates (UAE) face three-time holders Saudi Arabia.

Kuwait, the most successful nation in the competition with 10 cups, were beaten 5-0 by Oman on Thursday after only needing a draw to advance to the last four.

The Kuwaitis exited the tournament in the group stage after a 1-0 win against Iraq and a 2-2 draw against the UAE after being two goals down.

The regional knock-out competition ends on November 26.
