(MENAFN) Airbus, the European aerospace giant, announced it is about to sign a contract with US Delta Airlines for the delivery of 50 long-haul carriers in a deal worth USD14 billion, Arab News reported.
Under the terms of the deal, Airbus is expected to deliver 25 A350-900s, the company's new long-haul carrier, while the other 25 planes will be A330-neos.
Delta, which earlier this year asked Airbus and Boeing to submit offers as the airline considers replacing its ageing fleet, already has a sizable fleet of Airbus aircraft, with 126 single-aisle medium-haul A320s and 32 A330s.
Airbus also announced that it had signed a preliminary deal with the China Aircraft Leasing Company to deliver 100 planes in a contract worth around USD10.2 billion.
