Etihad expands codeshares with Alitalia

(MENAFN) Etihad Airways announced it has signed a major codeshare expansions agreement with Alitalia, the Italian airline it is set to own almost half of, Gulf News reported.

As a part of the deal, Etihad will place its flight code on Alitalia's daily services between Venice and Abu Dhabi as well as its flights between Milan and Abu Dhabi, with both services expected to be launched on March 29, 2015.

Etihad, which received approval from the European Commission last week to acquire a 49 per cent stake in Alitalia, said that this new codeshare agreement is subject to government approval as well.
