(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY Nov 19 (KUNA): Kuwait will celebrate the Universal Children's Day on November 20 which saw the Declaration of the Rights of the Child by the UN's General Assembly over half a century ago. Kuwait has been following the 1959 declaration's rules taking administrative legislative social and educational measures to protect and develop the rights of children.

This international day focuses on the role of the family in providing the child with all his needs and safeguarding his/her rights said Professor of Management and Administrative Planing in the College of Education Dr Ahmad Al-Bustan on Wednesday. Al-Bustan noted the important role of families mainly the mothers in building children's personalities and make the best out of their abilities.

However he warned that the gap especially in communication has increased between children and parents due to the modern lifestyle in Arab societies. The majority of women are busy with their jobs nowadays and don't find enough time to spend with their kids he said.

Thus they assigned the task of taking care of children and fulfilling their needs to their maids he explained. Kuwait's constitution pays great attention towards children's rights through issuing laws to protect the child's social and mental life as well as laws to prevent violence against children said Al- Bustan.

The Ministry of Education on its part provides well organized educational curriculums which include sciences religion and languages without neglecting entertainment to attract children to learning and improve their mental state he said.
