Police catch alleged frontman for Italy's most wanted Mafia boss

(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency)  Italian police Wednesday arrested a businessman accused
of acting as a front for Matteo Messina Denaro, the country's most
wanted fugitive and alleged chief of the Sicilian Mafia, Cosa Nostra, dpa reported.

Girolamo Bellomo, 37, who is married to Messina Denaro's niece, was
arrested in Palermo.

Prosecutors said they suspect he was at the head of a criminal gang
that engaged in activities such as robberies and extortion, raising
money to fund Messina Denaro's life on the run, and also looked after
his business interests.

The other 15 members of the gang were arrested in Castelvetrano, a
town about 100 kilometers south-west of Palermo where Messina Denaro
was born 52 years ago.
