Palestinian President Meets EU Representative

(MENAFN- QNA) Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met here on Wednesday with the European Union (EU) representative to Palestine John Gatt-Rutter.

During the meeting, Abbas briefed Rutter on the latest developments in Palestine and the efforts for preventing escalation of violence due to the Israeli violations against Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.

He stressed the need to remove all forms of tension that lead to increasing violence, most importantly stopping the repeated incursions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by settlers under the protection of the Israeli army, pointing out that the Palestinian side is keen on calmness, the implementation of what was agreed upon in the recent meetings in Amman, and the preservation of the status quo of Al-Aqsa mosque since 1967.
