UAE projects in Pakistan evaluated


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Ministry of International Cooperation and Development (MICAD) has released a report detailing the results of multiple field visits performed by the Ministrys Monitoring and Evaluation Department.

In response to the wise instructions of the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to establish UAE Development Assistance Projects in friendly and other countries of the world in support of their local development plans and in order to help them achieve a decent life for their citizens the UAE Project to Assist Pakistan (UAEPAP) management is closely following various projects in Pakistan.



The Ministry of International Cooperation and Development (MICAD) has released a report detailing the results of multiple field visits performed by the Ministry’s Monitoring and Evaluation Department (M&E) team to control and assess some of the development projects implemented by UAEPAP management in the Republic of Pakistan.



These field visits conducted under MICAD’s strategy to monitor the performance of projects funded by the UAE all over the world and to evaluate their impact also meant to capture the lessons learned in order to provide basic assessment information in line MICAD and OECD Development Assistance Committee’s monitoring and evaluation standards.



The Ministry’s report acknowledged field visits to two projects in progress. The first project to be evaluated was the Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Model Hospital. Meant to improve health services and maternal and child care in Saidu Sharif area the project cost Dh18.4 million and is expected to treat 162000 patients per year.



The team also visited Emirates Hospital Rawalpindi costing Dh396 million and which will provide health and therapeutic services to more than 2 million Pakistanis and will have the ability to perform up to 50 operations per day.



In order to capture the lessons learned and evaluate the impact of the UAE aid projects MICAD’s team further visited the Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Bridge in Shamozai and Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Bridge in Swat as well as the Paramedic Institute Saidu Sharif Swat.



MICAD’s team reported that the project performance is consistent with OECD Development Assistance Committee’s standards and the framework set by MICAD’s Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Department and lauded the cooperation of UAEPAP management team which facilitated its mission and provided the required information and samples of the systems used in these projects organised the field visits of the team to project areas and held meetings with local stakeholders and official bodies in charge with supervising the projects in the Republic of Pakistan.
