Qatar Participates in Consultative Meeting for NATO's Istanbul Cooperation Initiative


(MENAFN- QNA) HE Qatar's Ambassador to Belgium and NATO Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani participated in the first meeting for the consultative group of Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI), which was held in Istanbul on the sidelines of celebrating the tenth anniversary of launching the initiative.

Thrasyvoulos Terry Stamatopoulos, NATO's assistant secretary general for political affairs and security policy, attended the meeting along with Ahmet Muhtar Gun, deputy undersecretary for bilateral and political affairs at the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

In a speech before the third session of the meeting, HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim addressed ICI future, reviewing future cooperation of the group, points of view on cooperation between ICI member states and NATO, in addition to recent achievements and successes.

The meeting was dedicated to discussing preparations for the NATO and security in the Gulf conference, which is set to take place in Doha in December in the presence of NATO secretary general, North Atlantic Council (NAC) and senior NATO officials.
