Qatar Airways lost USD200m over delays in A380 delivery

(MENAFN) Qatar Airways announced that it lost USD200 million in revenue, due to a three-month delay in the delivery of A380 superjumbo jets from Airbus Group, Arabian Business reported.

Qatar Airways took delivery of its first A380 in September, after a three-month dispute with the Airbus over the quality of the cabin fitting in the jet, which caused the plane maker to make some modification on the design before delivering the plane to the Gulf carrier.

"This is a very fine airplane. The aircraft will - God willing - be delivered to us before the end of the year on schedule and we may have some additional surprises."

Despite their previous dispute, Qatar Airways said that it still maintains a good relationship with Airbus, with the carrier expected to take delivery of an A350 jet, which is mid-sized jet model between December 12 and 15 of this year.

"Qatar Airways has been very proactive with Airbus on the A350 program. This is a very fine airplane. The aircraft will - God willing - be delivered to us before the end of the year on schedule and we may have some additional surprises", Qatar Airways CEO said.
