Three Chinese automakers to recall units over fuel defect

(MENAFN) China's top quality supervisor said that three Chinese automakers will recall more than half a million units with potential flawed fuel pumps, Xinhua reported.

The recall includes 559,882 vehicles on the Chinese mainland manufactured between March 2005 and January 2014 by Chery Automobile, Brilliance Auto and Great Wall Motor.

All these automakers used fuel pumps produced by United Automobile Electronic Systems Co., Ltd., a Shanghai-based joint venture. Flaws of the pipe flange brackets of fuel pumps may lead to gasoline leakage.

The recall will start from Dec. 15 and dealers of these automakers will replace the faulty parts free of charge, said the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine in a statement.
