Qatar- Education City's architecture highlighted at AIA forum

(MENAFN- The Peninsula)  Qatar Foundation (QA) partially sponsored a two-day American Institute of Architects (AIA) Middle East Conference, held in Doha for the first time.

Specialists and officials from the region took part in briefings and panel discussions.

Delegates to the second annual conference were taken on a guided tour of Education City, QF's signature development. The tour offered them insight into the architecture of the campus, highlighting QF's commitment to quality, diversity and sustainability.

Ameena Ahmadi, Technical Director, QF's Capital Projects, gave a presentation 'Type and Diversity within Education City's Architecture', with an overview of QF's flagship development.

She also highlighted some of QF's signature buildings, including Liberal Arts and Sciences, Hamad Bin Khalifa University Student Centre, the new Qatar National Library building, Faculty of Islamic Studies and Education City Mosque. The presentation also showed how Qatari heritage has been reflected and re-interpreted in QF's built environment through its projects.

She said,"QF is committed to high-quality architecture and invites high-calibre architects to contribute to Education City. Architects and students of architecture from all over the world have visited Qatar to learn about what is being done here. Education City is recognised regionally and internationally and highly regarded nationally by authorities as a model and catalyst for development."
