31 airstrikes damage, destroy ISIL targets in Syria, Iraq


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The US-led coalition in Iraq and Syria has carried out a total of 31 airstrikes from November 14-17, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement on Monday.

In Syria, US fighter and bomber aircraft focused on Ain Al-Arab town (Kobani), where nine strikes destroyed seven ISIL fighting positions, suppressed another ISIL fighting position, destroyed four ISIL staging areas and struck one tactical ISIL unit, the statement affirmed.

Another two airstrikes close to Dayr Az Zawr struck an ISIL crude oil collection facility and destroyed one ISIL tank, it noted.

In Iraq, bomber, fighter and remotely piloted aircraft from the US and partner nations carried out 20 airstrikes in total. "Four airstrikes near Iraq's Ar Rutbah town in western Al-Anbar province destroyed nine ISIL trucks, two ISIL excavators and one ISIL front-loader and damaged one ISIL vehicle," the statement said. "Three airstrikes near Fallujah destroyed two ISIL vehicles, one ISIL bulldozer and one ISIL front-loader." The statement further noted that one airstrike southwest of Mosul Dam destroyed one ISIL bulldozer and struck one tactical ISIL unit, while "two airstrikes west of Mosul struck two ISIL tactical units and destroyed one ISIL vehicle and an ISIL fighting position.

Near Kirkuk, three strikes hit one a tactical ISIL unit, and damaged one ISIL tank and destroyed another, it pointed out. An airstrike southwest of Al Qaim destroyed one ISIL vehicle and another one in Tel Afar struck one tactical ISIL unit, it added.

The last five airstrikes near Bayji struck two tactical ISIL units and one large ISIL unit and destroyed one ISIL tank, one ISIL vehicle, and four ISIL fighting positions, the statement concluded.

CENTCOM did not specify which coalition partners participated in this latest round of airstrikes.
