Kuwaiti Cabinet Praises Riyadh Meeting Outcome


(MENAFN- QNA) The Kuwaiti Cabinet on Monday lauded positive results of Sunday's historic meeting that grouped leaders of the Arabian Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC), held in response to an invitation by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz.

The Kuwait Cabinet, in a statement carried by Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), expressed deep appreciation for the Saudi Monarch's invitation to the leaders of the other GCC states, praising King Abdullah's keenness on backing "the GCC march and realizing integration among the Council states for sake of serving interests of the GCC citizens." It noted the positive and constructive atmosphere that distinguished the GCC leaders' discussions, expressing pride in the good-will and continuous efforts, exerted by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, for cementing unification "of this leading Gulf entity," reflecting His Highness' in-depth outlook, keenness on maintaining the Council as well as his awareness of the challenges and hazards facing the GCC states.

Such an approach on part of His Highness the Amir tangibly manifests his strong belief in the GCC single destiny and objectives.

Moreover, the Kuwaiti Government affirmed that the historic agreement, the Riyadh Accord, would contribute to cementing the GCC states' unity and safeguard the GCC interests and citizens' future. Furthermore, it will open "new horizons for serious cooperation among the States of the Council that will back up our joint action and fortify the member countries in shadow of the very sensitive conditions prevailing in the region."
